Epubor ACSM Mate allows you to convert ACSM files downloaded from online bookstores and public libraries into regular EPUB or PDF files.
Note: Please choose the right version for you to install ACSM Mate. This guide demonstrates how to install and use Epubor ACSM Mate on Windows. But it is available on both Windows and MacOS.
Part 1: Download & Install
Download the right and latest version. Then double-click the file you downloaded ( .exe file for Windows users, .zip file for Mac users) to start the installation. We use Windows as an example in this tutorial, but as long as you install the right version, this software can work well with the same instructions regardless of the operating system.
Part 2: Free Trial & Register & Deregister & Uninstall
1. Free Trial
Launch Epubor ACSM Mate, the registration window will automatically pop up to let you input your license email and license code to register this software. If you want to continue using the trial version, just close the registration window.
Please note: The trial version can only allow you to download and convert up to 3 books for free.
If you want to unlock the full premium features, please make a purchase for the software.

2. Register
After you place an order for Epubor ACSM Mate, you will receive an order confirmation email with a license key within 24-48 hours. Then just run Epubor ACSM Mate and click the key icon on the upper right to enter the license email and license code for registration.
3. Deregister
If you want to change your computer, you need to deregister Epubor ACSM Mate. Please click the gear icon in the right corner, then click "Help"—"License", and click "Deregister" button.
4. Uninstall
You can search for this software under Apps & Features and right-click to uninstall it.
Part 3: Epubor ACSM Mate Tutorial( Step-by-Step)
An ACSM file (Adobe Content Server Message) is not a real e-book. It is a small license or ticket file used to download books protected by Adobe DRM. Please download the ACSM file from the online stores or public libraries where you get the e-book to your local computer.
Note: When you download the book, you will get an ACSM file called "URLLink.acsm" or a file that includes the book name with the extension .acsm.
Launch Epubor ACSM Mate, then click the "Person" icon and select "Add to New Account" option.
Note: ADE now uses ByteBooks for sign-in. You must create a new free ByteBooks account using your previous Adobe ID email address to authorize ADE and access your existing digital library.
Click the "Add" button or drag and drop the ACSM files from your computer to Epubor ACSM Mate program.
Just wait for a while, the program will automatically convert the ACSM files to regular EPUB/PDF files.
Part 4: Troubleshooting and FAQ
If you fail to convert the ACSM files, please hover the mouse over the error to display the error message.
Frequently Asked QuestionsQ: Why do I fail to convert my ACSM files?
A: Typically, Epubor ACSM Mate supports a normal ACSM file that can be opened by ADE. You can open the ACSM file with ADE to check if there is a problem with the ACSM file itself.
Here's a breakdown of situations where conversion can fail:
1. E_LIC_ALREADY_FULFILLED_BY_ANOTHER_USER: You have already opened the ACSM file with another Bytebooks account (Adobe ID) in ADE.
Solution: Please redownload the same book in ACSM format from the website where you get the book. If you borrowed this book from a public library, you can also return the book, then borrow it again and redownload it as ACSM file.
2. E_GOOGLE_DEVICE_LIMIT_REACHED: You have downloaded a Google Play ebook onto the maximum number of allowed devices.
Solution: This problem always appears on ebooks purchased from Google Play. You can delete the offline book from other phones, tablets, or computers where you opened it. Or contact the Google Play Support Team directly and ask them to manually reset the download/device counter for your problematic books.
3. License Server Communication Problem: E_ADEPT_INTERNAL: That error usually means Adobe Digital Editions (or your ebook reader) can’t properly reach or sync with the Adobe license server. This is an Internet connection problem, or it may be caused by the Adobe's server itself.
Solution: Firstly, please check the internet connection/firewall/VPN. If it is still not working, you need to contact Adobe Support for help.
Q: How can I switch to another Bytebooks account (Adobe ID)?
A: You can click the "Person" icon at the top-right-corner to add a new account or switch to another account.
Q: What can I do if I log in failed?
A: Please confirm again if you have entered the correct email address and password; don't include any space characters. You can also go to the Bytebooks website and check if you can successfully log into your account.
