I have the same problem. Only when you upgrade your Kindle for PC at least version 3, you can read and download again.
Honestly, it seems there is no longer any development on Epubor anymore. It is very regretfully that Epubor no longer can handle Kindle ebooks.
I bought a Kindle eBook which had just been released this week but the program wouldn't let me download it with Kindle version 1.32. I guess newer books require the most recent Kindle version 1.40. So far I had no issues concerning older books.
I upgraded Kindle to finally be able to download the eBook but epubor wasn't able to remove DRM anymore (typical error which tells you to redownload the ebook with a former kindle version - which isn't possible, I've tried it multiple times with different versions, also with 1.17 as described in the Q&A).
Is there some workaround for newer books? It would be really helpful. I need text to speech function to being able to "read" my purchased books but I couldn't get any other method to work reliably except for using epub format since the Kindle text to speech function doesn't seem to be integrated anymore.
Thanks for contacting. The old Kindle app cannot download Kindle books published since January 3, 2023 and you need to update the Kindle app to version 1.39 or later to download these books. In this case, if you have a Kindle e-ink device registered with your Amazon account, you can download Kindle books via "Download and transfer via USB." Please follow this guide below:

What do I do?
Hello, thanks for your comment.
It seems amazon kindle has changed something in the newly published Kindle books, so it requires the latest Kindle app to download it. For the ebooks published in 2023, here are 2 solutions to solve this problem:
1.If you have any Kindle device (kindle fire or Kindle e-ink device) registered with your Amazon account.
Please download the Kindle books via "download and transfer via USB" and then remove kindle drm with epubor ultimate.
Here is the detailed guide: https://www.epubor.com/how-to-remove-drm-from-kindle-kfx-ebooks.html#meth4
2. If you don't have a Kindle e-ink device, we recommend our new product Kindle Converter to decrypt and convert the Kindle books published in 2023. please learn more here:
